The designers wanted to create a social, dynamic dining experience with a focus on non-verbal communication.

They jointly built and assembled a dinner set in a cold, industrial environment at Make Eindhoven, where both series were created.

The makers invited two strangers to dine together. The guests were told to eat without utensils and to stand throughout the entire ritual, as the makers did behind the same table when the dining room was a workshop.

The diners are made to connect through the dinnerware pieces. The white and black colour palette was chosen to draw the viewer’s eye to the connectors: the ceramic pieces. The title was chosen to showcase the disjointed, individualistic communication that is characteristic for the West, but that is also now representative of the global policy moving toward social isolation.
